Jewel's kids

Here's Jewel's twins - the buck kid on the left and the doe kid on the right. Notice the spots on the boy, including a big brown spot on his face that will turn silver white as he gets older, and also you can see brown and silver spots on him too. Beautiful long ears on both as well as very nice roman noses! They are 6 hours old in the pics!
Both are now SOLD!

A good morning!

I'm happy to report that at 3am this morning, Jewel went into labor and presented us with twins! A black with red trim spotted buck kid and a black with red trim beautiful doe kid with a large white spot on her belly. They are up and have had their colostrum. Jewel has a beautiful udder, super high, with big teats that hang straight down - and they were a joy to milk this morning! I put a good pint of gold colostrum in the freezer by 4:30am.

Queisha lost her mucus plug this morning so she will be kidding soon also. And she did, going into labor at 7:30am and delivering an 8.3 pound huge buck kid, also black with red trim. So the Nubians are done until August when Sunshine who was bred to Blue Zephyr is due and that's our last Nubian kidding for the year.

They're getting closer!

Waiting - oh the waiting is crazy but we're getting closer. Queisha and Jewel are growing lovely udders with nice big milkable teats. They are also getting wider and wider. By the end of the month we'll see just what these girls will give us for kids. Both are quite content and laying around in the sun during the days now too. Zasia in the meantime is still increasing in milk production and her lovely spotted daughter, Abby, has gotten used to not being with her mom. Next to her in the adjoining pen seems to be a good place as far as she is concerned as she learns to play with the ND kids, the young Saanen doe, and a young Nubian buck from Black Mesa Ranch.

Walkies....

Walkies! The girls and I went out for a walk to browse on saplings - I never did taste any but they sure did. The snow rubble is still left in the background, but the girls loved running, jumping, and browsing on goodies. One of the things that's the most fun is running........they start a good browse and I take off in the other direction. There must be a boogie man in the browse spot so they come running after me and pass me by, stopping suddenly to wait for me to catch up. Then I stop and run the opposite direction and off they go, running full speed towards me bucking and jumping. It's hysterical, and we have lots of fun. I'm looking forward to green grass again tho!

The new guy arrives April 16th

The new guy arrives April 16th. Much anticipation has surrounded this buck kid as I waited to see if his beautiful dam would produce at least 2 buck kids to fill her waiting list. She did along with a beautiful doe kid, so all reservations were filled! He's what I call an 'udder buck' - one who will contribute towards high milk production. It doesn't hurt that his dam has already appraised a 90 as a 2 year old and a 91 as a 3 year old either - I like pretty too!

Here's his impressive pedigree - lots of milk no doubt....

Zasia's brown doe kid is for sale, I think.... SOLD!

This has been a VERY hard decision! Zasia's brown doe kid is gorgeous.........she's long, beautiful, elegant. If she has her mother's udder socked up so high and wide, she will be stunning when she grows up. I can't keep them all, so either Zasia will be for sale (almost straight Goldthwaite bloodlines), or her brown daughter will be for sale. Zasia is a treasure on the milkstand - never a problem - and is extremely sweet and very affectionate. She's the kind of doe you want around, so this is a very hard decision, but I have to keep my numbers down. I have Zasia's littermate brother here, Blue, who has been bred to Sunshine for late summer freshening. Sunshine will be for sale after kidding. So I will have plenty of Zasia's genetics to continue forward with.

Contact me if you'd like to add one of our girls to your herd.

Zasia's beautiful twin doe kids

Ober-D'Rainbow Zasia gave birth to twin girls 2/18/10 as a first freshener. The black and tan girl on the right is covered in moonspots - right now they are a brown gray but will turn to a silver white in a few months. Her brown sister is on the left and is a sweetheart too.

I included the photo below as it gives a little glimpse of Zasia's udder, half empty, but a nice strong medial coming along. And she has a perfectly smooth foreudder too. You can see more moonspots in the brightness of the photo of the black and tan girl also.
The little brown girl just a trucking along in the barn aisleway. I like the white 'seagull' on her forehead and her white chin. She's a nice long girl too.

Here's another photo of our black and tan girl. Bet she's going to have a white tail where that brown moonspot is presently sitting, which will turn to silver white.

Flower's buck kid - SOLD!

Flower's buck kid born today, February 21, 2010. He is absolutely covered in moonspots, lovely breed character and nice and long with good bone. He is available. Flower has several Best Udder in Breed wins.
